Bears (Anshe) are used for healing, protection. They are one of the strongest land predators known to man. The white Bear specifically in Zuni are known to be the strongest, also used for their curative powers.
Bears are natural hunters and gatherers. Bear’s hibernation reminds us to look for strength within ourselves and when the time comes, harness it when needed. Bears are also one of the six guardian beings that protect Zuni at all Six directions [Upper, Lower, North, East, West, & South].
Bear is carved from translucent Italian Ice Alabaster, meticulously water sanded by hand, detailed and polished to a lustrous shine. Inlaid with Lapis and is bundled with a Black Lip Mother of Pearl Arrowhead for protection - Natural Kingman Turquoise fish for offerings.
